2008 Domaine Joseph Roty "Cuvee La Brunelle" Gevrey-Chambertin (torn neck label, scuffed label)

91 Points Vinous: "Moderately saturated medium red. Tangy red cherry and raspberry aromas complicated by musky soil tones on the nose. Sweet, fruity and vibrant, with expressive flavors of red cherry, pepper and dried flowers complicated by a saline nuance. Finishes very long and brisk, with excellent grip. Classically dry but not hard or austere. Really lovely juicy energy here. I underestimated this wine from barrel." (3/2011)

(88-90) Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There aren’t even the usual hundred cases of Roty 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle from an enclave outside of their house. Tea, iris, and distilled expressions of black fruit on the nose lead to a bright, firm palate whose white pepper and fresh ginger pungency is – like the wine’s somewhat spirituous aspect – site-typical. A strongly saline streak lends lip smacking allure to the finish of this candidate for 8-10 years of enjoyment." (1/28/2010)
