2017 Kangarilla Road "The Devil's Whiskers" McLaren Vale Shiraz

91 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a single vineyard and matured 18 months in new French oak, the 2017 Shiraz The Devil's Whiskers is nonetheless not overly oaky, yielding dark blueberry and blackberry fruit on the nose alongside hints of black olives, espresso and vanilla. It's medium to full-bodied, creamy and supple on the palate, ending silky and long. It's a big step up from the regular Shiraz." (7/31/2020)

From Wine Enthusiast Magazine: "This is a rich muscular Shiraz displaying McLaren Vale's typical ripe plum, chocolate, coffee-ground, black-olive and warm stone characters along with plenty of toasty oak. The plush fruit sits heavily on the palate but is supported by structured tannins. Again, the oak is showing but will likely settle into the background with a bit more time in bottle.
