2021 Philippe Colin "Champs de Morjot" Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge
92 Points from Wine Spectator: "This is powerful for the vintage, with toasty oak framing black cherry and blackberry flavors. Dense and concentrated, with a fresh, tangy finish, offering fine balance and length. Best from 2026 through 2038. 380 cases made, 5 cases imported." (5/31/24)
"Outstanding Top Value" from Allen Meadows' Burghound: "There is just enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. More interesting are the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that possess excellent punch that carries over to the lightly rustic, balanced and lingering finale. While this could use better depth, more should develop, and this is really quite good for a Chassagne villages. Also worth considering provided you're willing to hold it for at least a few years." (4/10/23)
From Vinous: "The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Champ de Morjot (Rouge) has an attractive nose with brambly red fruit, undergrowth, damp moss and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine acidity; the 2021 is quite structured with a very peppery finish. It does need a little more finesse and persistence, but it should mature well in bottle." (11/22)
