2021 Girard Napa Valley Petite Sirah
14.5
93 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always among my favorite wines from Girard, the 2021 Petite Sirah features its usual incredible color—impenetrable black-purple. Blueberries and baking spices appear on the nose, while the palate is full-bodied, tannic and sturdy, with some hints of mocha on the long, dusty finish. The assemblage is 81% Petite Sirah, 17% Zinfandel and 2% Mixed Blacks, with maturation identical to the Zinfandel (14 months in barrels made of American, French and Hungarian oak, 40% new). Tasted twice, with consistent notes." (12/29/23)
93 Points & and "Editors' Choice" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine: There aren't many Napa Valley Petite Sirahs, and this is an exceptional one. Opulent, jammy blackberry and boysenberry flavors fill this full-bodied wine to the rim, while masses of soft tannins add a velvety, rich texture. Espresso, dark chocolate and oak char nuances add a spicy side that builds on the palate and lingers on the finish. Best from 2025–2040." (12/31/23)
