2023 Wrath "115/667" Monterey County Pinot Noir

$35.99
$35.99

From a single vineyard, San Saba Vineyard, that is located just south of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA this clonal selection of Pinot Noir is really something for under $40. Always a bit lighter than the brooding wines of the Santa Lucia Highlands the Pinots of Wrath still never lack personality, or big flavors, they just may have a touch more charm. Featuring more bass toned red fruits and hints of sandalwood from the 25% new oak this has plenty of stuffing and is an unmistakable Domestic Pinot Noir, for better or worse depending on your palate. I say better, I mean you can like Burgundy and this at the same time right, RIGHT? (Anyways, I won't get into that right now.) Long, and with finishing energy and building savor this is just good damn Pinot. (Bryan, GTO)

95 Points Vinous: "The 2023 Pinot Noir 115/667 comes from the oldest Pinot vines on the Wrath estate vineyard. Very, very light in hue and completely translucent, the 2023 appears almost like an infusion in the glass, but its concentration of aromas and flavors completely belies those visual cues. Hibiscus tea, red cherry, leather, cinnamon and blood orange form an intoxicating blend. The old vine gravitas comes through in the finesse of the tannins and persistence of the finish. Impressive.

Sabrine Rodems crafted an excellent range of 2023s that pack tons of concentration and fruit intensity into lighter, more elegant frameworks than usual. Harvests at the estate vineyard, which sits just beyond the northern boundary of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, stretched well into October, a full month later than in 2022. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly what makes them so, but these wines are just fun to taste—never shy but never overdone. The 2023 Pinot Noir 115/667 is a model of purity and transparency and one of the finest Pinot Noirs of the vintage." (6/25)
